American Red Cross

A humanitarian organization led by volunteers. Provides relief to victims of

disasters and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. Serve

various community needs: help people in emergencies, teach first aid, and CPR

classes, deliver emergency messages to members of the military, and organize

programs for the elderly and youth. Youth will assist in creating comfort kits for

disaster victims as well as assist with general office help, including set-up and

clean-up for CPR classes.

Ballet Lubbock

Mission is to provide a school of classical dance and community performances

that provide an understanding and appreciation of dance as a performing art

to all audiences. Volunteer opportunities include ticket taking, greeting, ushering

for performances, sewing costumes for performances, and accompanist.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lubbock

Provides role models to children through a one-on-one mentoring relationship

supported by professionally-trained staff. Volunteers can donate one hour a week

Breedlove Foods Inc.

The vision of Breedlove Dehydrated Foods is to be a leader in international humanitarian hunger

The Bridge of Lubbock

Our mission is to restore hope, body, soul, & spirit to the community of East

Lubbock. Youth are able to assist with office duties Monday through Friday.

Youth are also invited to help out in the soup kitchen Monday, Wednesday and

Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

We offer love and hope while meeting the basic needs of each child and family.

BUDS - Better Understanding of Down Syndrome

BUD’s purpose is to support, educate and provide educational and social

opportunities to families that have loved ones with Down Syndrome, regardless

CASA of the South Plains

CASA’s mission is to provide trained, court-appointed volunteers who

investigate, monitor, & serve as advocates in court for abused/neglected

children’s best interests. Youth can participate in the Junior Friends of CASA

program by helping abused children through fundraising events and a Youth

Advisory Program. Youth are welcome to aid in basic office work.

Mission is to provide individual, marital & family counseling, natural family planning,

& HIV/AIDS education/prevention programs. Assistance is needed in the

Children’s Advocacy Center of the South Plains, Inc.

To bring together community resources to speed the healing of child victims of

abuse & trauma. Youth are needed to assist with new teddy bear drives and

fundraising events such as the CAC Bike Ride and a gingerbread house

building competition. Help is also needed with stuffing envelopes.

Provides information & resources for adoptive and birth parents; parenting & childcare

educational materials; and quality improvement programs for childcare providers. Help with

Christian Women’s Job Corps

Assists women in need, with life & job skills in a Christian environment, who

City-Wide Pride Committee

A group of volunteer citizens in Lubbock that cooperate with the city government

and the community to enhance & beautify the environment. Volunteers needed to

clean up lots, to deliver certificates of pride and work at special events.

Community Partners of Lubbock

The mission of Greater Texas Community Partners is to meet the critical needs of

abused and neglected children through state and local collaborations. Volunteer

opportunities include helping with clothing or school supply drives, shopping or

making items for the Rainbow Room, and shopping for Christmas gifts for foster

children.

Offers suicide crisis prevention hotline, programs to educate the public about suicide,

and a 24/7 crisis line to aid in the prevention of suicide. Teens can join the Speakers

Bureau, a straight talk program about suicide prevention. Teens must complete a 15

hour training course to take part in the Speakers Bureau.

Covenant Health System Foundation is a Non-profit C-3 Corporation that supports

Covenant Health System. Teens may assist the foundation by helping to distribute

Early Learning Centers of Lubbock

Provides quality child care services in five locations in North & East Lubbock to

preschool children, with fees based on income & eligibility. Youth can help with

painting, crafts, music, reading to children, yard work, one time events or continuing

events. All volunteers present more than one time must have an electronic

fingerprint criminal history at the expense of the volunteer prior to entering the

center.

Provides high-quality, low-cost counseling services to Lubbock & the surrounding

communities. We have opportunities to help provide office support to the

Family Guidance and Outreach Center

Provides programs to caregivers to give tools to help them meet the demands of

parenting. Our mission is the prevention of child abuse through mentoring, educating,

Family Promise of Lubbock, Inc.

Provides homeless families with children the tools necessary to achieve long term

financial, parental and personal self-sufficiency through a program of temporary

housing, case management and supportive services. Volunteers can mentor young

administrative, fundraising and special event opportunities.

Hospice of Lubbock

We provide end-of-life care to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of people with

terminal illnesses. Volunteers can help with office work, or the Thrift Shoppe. Help is also needed

with special projects such as, Kids' Grief Recovery Camp, Kids' Christmas Party, or Mayors'

Beans and Cornbread Luncheon.

Humane Society of West Texas

Active in the rescue and fostering of homeless, abused, neglected, and "down on their luck" dogs

Literacy Lubbock

Teaches adults, free of charge, basic reading and writing skills, and GED preparation,

and provides non-English speaking adults with instruction in speaking, reading and

writing English. Youth volunteers can deliver books to different programs, assist with

special events and projects and organize the office.

Lubbock Boys and Girls Club

Working to help youth of all backgrounds, with special concern for those of

disadvantaged circumstances develop the qualities needed to become responsible

citizens and leaders. Participate in a junior staff volunteer program. Check children in,

Provides quality, low cost, comprehensive primary health care to medically indigent

Lubbock City Museums

Consists of the Buddy Holly Center and Silent Wings museum. Young, enthusiastic volunteers who

have an interest in learning about history and making it come alive for our visitors are wanted.

dancing group.

Lubbock Habitat for Humanity

Builds homes & sells them to approved, very low-income families at no profit &

finances a no-interest loan for that family. Teens can help with on-site jobs such as

Lubbock Meals on Wheels

Respecting the dignity of every human being, no matter their need or physical

condition, Lubbock Meals on Wheels will provide nutritious home-delivered meals to

those who are homebound, elderly, or disabled. Volunteer opportunities include meal

delivery for anyone with a current Texas driver’s license or with adult

supervision; helping with special events or fundraisers.

Provide rape crisis intervention, 24-hour hotline, follow-up support services, legal

Provides voluntary foster care for children needing temporary care due to social,

emotional, or physical disruption in their biological family. Children birth to 10 years

National Kidney Foundation of West Texas

We are a health organization dedicated to the prevention of kidney and urinary

tract diseases. Volunteers are needed for Kidneys in the Classroom, a health

The Parenting Cottage

Strengthening families through parenting education, utilizing parents as teachers

with in home visitation, parent/child groups, car-seat education, neighborhood
