Fix Up & Clean Up

Christian Women’s Job Corps

Assists women in need, with life & job skills in a Christian environment, who

want to change their lives & break the cycle of poverty. Teens are needed to

assist with light office work and building maintenance.

City-Wide Pride Committee

A group of volunteer citizens in Lubbock that cooperate with the city government

and the community to enhance & beautify the environment. Volunteers needed to

clean up lots, to deliver certificates of pride and work at special events.

Family Promise of Lubbock, Inc.

Provides homeless families with children the tools necessary to achieve long term

financial, parental and personal self-sufficiency through a program of temporary

housing, case management and supportive services. Volunteers can mentor young

children and youth who are experiencing temporary homelessness or help with

administrative, fundraising and special event opportunities.

Guadalupe-Parkway Sommerville Centers

Our mission is to meet the needs of the community by providing programs that give

individuals and families opportunities to learn, develop self-esteem and realize their

full potential. Volunteers can interact on our game day, summer camp, fall festival and

tutoring program.

Hospice of Lubbock

We provide end-of-life care to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of people with

terminal illnesses. Volunteers can help with office work, or the Thrift Shoppe. Help is also needed

with special projects such as, Kids' Grief Recovery Camp, Kids' Christmas Party, or Mayors'

Beans and Cornbread Luncheon.

Literacy Lubbock

Teaches adults, free of charge, basic reading and writing skills, and GED preparation,

and provides non-English speaking adults with instruction in speaking, reading and

writing English. Youth volunteers can deliver books to different programs, assist with

special events and projects and organize the office.

Lubbock Children’s Health Clinic

Provides quality, low cost, comprehensive primary health care to medically indigent

children of Lubbock without regard to race, sex, national origin or parent ability to

pay. Youth will be able to help with painting, clerical work, and special events.

Lubbock City Museums

Consists of the Buddy Holly Center and Silent Wings museum. Young, enthusiastic volunteers who

have an interest in learning about history and making it come alive for our visitors are wanted.

Opportunities are offered to assist with workshops and public events as well as join a swing

dancing group.

Lubbock Habitat for Humanity

Builds homes & sells them to approved, very low-income families at no profit &

finances a no-interest loan for that family. Teens can help with on-site jobs such as

landscaping, painting and clean-up. Help is also needed with light office work and at

the construction store.

Lubbock Rape Crisis Center

Provide rape crisis intervention, 24-hour hotline, follow-up support services, legal

& medical information for survivors & their families. Although youth cannot work

our hotline or work cases, we appreciate and look forward to incorporating youth

in other ways.

The Parenting Cottage

Strengthening families through parenting education, utilizing parents as teachers

with in home visitation, parent/child groups, car-seat education, neighborhood

mentors, and fetal alcohol syndrome disorder program. Volunteer needs include

computer programming, maintenance, check-ups, mowing and cleanup of a small

yard.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest

Creates, finds and supports programs that directly improve the health and well

being of children and their families. Volunteer opportunities include doing light

household chores and cleaning, sorting and putting away donations, baking cookies,

and much more.

Youth Corps, Inc.

Provide youth ages 14 to 18 programming encompassing leadership principles, life

skills, work ethic, good citizenship, and community service in order to discover their

full leadership potential. Youth are selected for “Leaders in Training” program.
