takes more than just good intentions to meet community needs; it takes skilled
staff, effective leaders, and good management practices. The Volunteer Center
helps all nonprofit agencies by training board members and helping with management
related tasks.
Technical Assistance
Running a nonprofit agency takes a broad spectrum of knowledge. We offer assistance
with strategic planning, board training, grant writing, meeting facilitation,
and other tasks that take special skills. We will tailor the fees for this service
to fit your budget.
Consultations with Non-profits
When agencies need help finding solutions to specific management problems, we
offer individual consultation services. The first 30 minutes of any consultation
is provided without charge.
Criminal Background Checks
In cooperation with the Department of
Public Safety, we conduct background checks for nonprofit agencies dealing
with vulnerable populations. The background checks can be conducted on employees
and volunteers. Agencies who wish to use this service are required to attend
a training and orientation and pay an initial $75 fee to cover materials and
software. When the agency has been approved it can submit names to the Volunteer
Center via email and will be charged $6 for each name submitted. The
background check will give information on any criminal arrest record in the
State of Texas. All information is confidential. For more
