Ballet Lubbock

Mission is to provide a school of classical dance and community performances

that provide an understanding and appreciation of dance as a performing art

to all audiences. Volunteer opportunities include ticket taking, greeting, ushering

for performances, sewing costumes for performances, and accompanist.

Breedlove Foods Inc.

The vision of Breedlove Dehydrated Foods is to be a leader in international humanitarian hunger

relief, providing hope to the impoverished through growth and innovation. Along with volunteers for

onsite opportunities, Breedlove needs individuals to speak to groups about hunger and

Breedlove's fight against it. (Training and materials provided)

Buckner Children & Family Services

We offer love and hope while meeting the basic needs of each child and family.

Volunteer opportunities include working on youth council to help develop and

coordinate fundraising and collection campaigns for children in need.

City-Wide Pride Committee

A group of volunteer citizens in Lubbock that cooperate with the city government

and the community to enhance & beautify the environment. Volunteers needed to

clean up lots, to deliver certificates of pride and work at special events.

Community Partners of Lubbock

The mission of Greater Texas Community Partners is to meet the critical needs of

abused and neglected children through state and local collaborations. Volunteer

opportunities include helping with clothing or school supply drives, shopping or

making items for the Rainbow Room, and shopping for Christmas gifts for foster

children.

Early Learning Centers of Lubbock

Provides quality child care services in five locations in North & East Lubbock to

preschool children, with fees based on income & eligibility. Youth can help with

painting, crafts, music, reading to children, yard work, one time events or continuing

events. All volunteers present more than one time must have an electronic

fingerprint criminal history at the expense of the volunteer prior to entering the

center.

Family Promise of Lubbock, Inc.

Provides homeless families with children the tools necessary to achieve long term

financial, parental and personal self-sufficiency through a program of temporary

housing, case management and supportive services. Volunteers can mentor young

children and youth who are experiencing temporary homelessness or help with

administrative, fundraising and special event opportunities.

Foster a Life

Cultivating dreams for foster children in the Lubbock area, and provides other

programs to help with self-esteem. Help needed with special events, tutoring and

Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains Council

Provides girls ages 5-17 an opportunity to build confidence, character & courage.

Volunteers ages 15 and up are needed to help with special events, tutoring, and

miscellaneous work.

Our mission is to meet the needs of the community by providing programs that give

individuals and families opportunities to learn, develop self-esteem and realize their

full potential. Volunteers can interact on our game day, summer camp, fall festival and

tutoring program.

Hope Community of Shalom

The mission is to engage congregations and communities to work together to

experience wholeness and well being. Volunteer areas include art, karate, dance,

tutoring for elementary-aged children, food and clothing for adults in need, and

tutoring for adults.

Hospice of Lubbock

We provide end-of-life care to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of people with

terminal illnesses. Volunteers can help with office work, or the Thrift Shoppe. Help is also needed

with special projects such as, Kids' Grief Recovery Camp, Kids' Christmas Party, or Mayors'

Beans and Cornbread Luncheon.

Humane Society of West Texas

Active in the rescue and fostering of homeless, abused, neglected, and "down on their luck" dogs

and cats. Volunteer opportunities include helping set up for adoptions and taking care of animals

for adoption every Saturday at Petsmart, and help loading & taking things down for storage.

Teaches adults, free of charge, basic reading and writing skills, and GED preparation,

and provides non-English speaking adults with instruction in speaking, reading and

writing English. Youth volunteers can deliver books to different programs, assist with

special events and projects and organize the office.

Lubbock City Museums

Consists of the Buddy Holly Center and Silent Wings museum. Young, enthusiastic volunteers who

have an interest in learning about history and making it come alive for our visitors are wanted.

Opportunities are offered to assist with workshops and public events as well as join a swing

dancing group.

Lubbock Meals on Wheels

Respecting the dignity of every human being, no matter their need or physical

condition, Lubbock Meals on Wheels will provide nutritious home-delivered meals to

those who are homebound, elderly, or disabled. Volunteer opportunities include meal

delivery for anyone with a current Texas driver’s license or with adult

supervision; helping with special events or fundraisers.

Lubbock Rape Crisis Center

Provide rape crisis intervention, 24-hour hotline, follow-up support services, legal

& medical information for survivors & their families. Although youth cannot work

our hotline or work cases, we appreciate and look forward to incorporating youth

in other ways.

Methodist Children’s Home of Lubbock

Provides voluntary foster care for children needing temporary care due to social,

emotional, or physical disruption in their biological family. Children birth to 10 years

accepted for placement. Volunteers are needed to donate school supplies and help

with Christmas gift-wrapping and Christmas gift drives.

Science Spectrum

Hands-on science museum featuring science exhibits, aquariums, workshops, camps,

special events, outreach programs & Omni Theater. Volunteers can help with the

Halloween Carnival, festivals throughout the year, special events, such as the animal

husbandry program, and classes.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure

Strives to educate about breast cancer by advancing research, education, screening,

and treatment. Youth volunteers needed at events such as Race for the Cure, Swing

for the Cure, and other affiliate events throughout the year. Office help and

material distribution are other areas where youth volunteers may be of assistance.

Our mission is to connect people to volunteer needs and empower nonprofit
