COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT IN ACTION
Since our leadership programs began almost six years ago, over 260 people have gone through at least one of the three programs – Emerging Leaders, High Performing Teams, and Volunteer Manager Leaders.
Summer is one of those leaders. In 2016, she participated in Emerging Leaders after attending our Project Management workshop, which had transformed her work routines and productivity.
The Emerging Leaders program opened Summer up to truly understanding her own leadership skills and interests, both professionally and as a leader in the community. She was able to network with others in the program, learn how nonprofit organizations worked through mock board sessions and found out her true areas of interest in which to serve the community through the Volunteer Match program. She had grown up with a culture of service, but for the first time in her life, she knew her passions and how to mobilize them to make a difference in a meaningful, impactful way.
Today, Summer is involved with multiple organizations like the Lubbock Corral, United Way, South Plains Food Bank and the Lubbock Arts Alliance, and continues to enjoy attending Volunteer Center events and workshops to further her knowledge. She uses her skills in marketing to assist organizations she is passionate about to succeed. Talk about community engagement in action!
With each new year of leadership programs, our hope is to enable great people like Summer to change the culture of their businesses, our communities, and ultimately the world. These are the leaders who make our community great.
