On behalf of the VCL Board of Directors, we’re excited to officially introduce Emily Smith as the new Executive Director of the Volunteer Center of Lubbock!

Emily’s journey with us began in 2009, and her passion for connecting people through service has only grown since. After spending several years building a successful real estate business, Emily returned to the Volunteer Center team in 2024, eager to turn her love of volunteering into her full-time work.

As Interim Executive Director, Emily led impactful initiatives like the launch of 806 ServeFest, grew our network of community partners, and helped refresh the Volunteer Center’s mission to better reflect the needs of Lubbock. Her leadership style is rooted in collaboration, innovation, and a deep commitment to fostering community connections.

“I’m honored to continue this work and lead the Volunteer Center into its next chapter,” Emily shared. “Lubbock has an incredible spirit of service, and I’m excited to help us grow, adapt, and keep making a difference together.”

As Emily steps into her new role, her focus will be on strengthening existing programs, expanding business engagement opportunities, and ensuring a strong, sustainable future for the organization. She’s also spearheading key initiatives, including the celebration of our 35th anniversary and the renovation of our new building at 1219 Avenue K—a project that will provide a collaborative, welcoming space for community service.

Join us in congratulating Emily on this exciting new chapter! You can reach out to her directly at esmith@volunteerlubbock.org.
